Cookies and Brownies and Muffins, Oh My!

Prepared to be impressed. Let me start by saying that dieting is hard. We all know that. Now let me tell you that being a vegan is incredibly, unbelievably hard. It seems as though everything is off limits, and to be honest, it actually kind of is. Surprisingly, what I have found most difficult to give up is dairy. I would have thought desserts (you all know how my sweet tooth is) or at least bread (mmm, carbs) would have been my weakness, but I'm actually yearning for dairy. I think this is because "good for you" items that I typically tend to gravitate to while dieting are now off limits, like yogurt, a bowl of granola, my skinny cows, oh my skinny cows, and of course, cheese. God, I want some mozzarella. See! This is unusual, because I have always given top priority to the sweets in my life -- hence my need for a detox. So imagine how distraught I was when my darling coworker Natalie stood in front of me with a giant platter of delectable confections and I had to decline. She had cookie sandwiches with icing filling, for crying out loud! I told her no and she walked away. I had the urge to resort to some type of crazy Titanic-esque response where I threw my hands out and chanted, I'll never let go chocolate, I'll never let go! But I didn't, because while my sweet coworker friends would not necessarily be surprised, I do think they would be a little concerned. Okay, maybe I've changed my mind, I think I want that fudgy brownie more than I want my granola.
